In the early days of science, natural catastrophes were experienced as part of the weather; momentary ruptures in human civilisation created by the numinous agencies responsible for turning the cosmic orrery. Tympathic Tether is a site-specific sound experience by sound-artist and filmmaker Curtis Tamm that reimagines the present day use of the aural warning Siren; proffering a cultural cosmology capable of accepting confounding natural events, rather than disregarding them as geological mistakes. Sounding the signal that “catastrophes” are once again becoming part of the developing relationship Humans have to Nature, one the disasters can sometimes make so evident.
